Digital activism is my voice

A few months ago I got very excited when I saw an advert from MRCF about the digital activism training programme, I had learned a few things over the years about the internet, computers, websites and things about the 'digital world' but I still felt that it was not enough and I decided to go on this training course to find more ways to express my opinions and the opinions of the organisation that I belong to. A lot of people ask me what digital activism is. I have one answer:  it is what gives my voice power. It is so crucial in our time that people use the digital world to voice their opinions - we need future generations to understand the best way of voicing their demands and opinions by peaceful means and to make it clear that weapons, wars and violence are not power but a coward act, these things actually obliterate our power and distract our views. 

I am a human right activist. all my life I wanted to stand against the turmoil of the human right in Iraq and any where around the world where I felt there are unfair treatment of women and children, by taking the course on digital activism I wanted to give Iraqi women power of say against all the wrong things that happened in the past, happening now and will happen in the future. Our women have very little access to internet still many women do not know how to use the computer, others have no right to learn and study. Electricity in Baghdad and the south seldom comes and goes so many other daily problems as well as lack of low and order. I will stand with the thousands of women who trying to defeat their silence, for all the dreams which has been shuttered for years until they will be free to tell their own stories. The last story of concern to women in Iraq is coming from the ministry for education which has announced by an influential women and her announcement said, that Iraqi schools need around 4000 teachers but from this number they will employ 90% men and 10% women, do I need to say more, what exactly are we building in Iraq?

The effect of photography on our lives in wartime

What kind of devastation and outcomes do war, dictatorship and violence bring to people? They scar you for life if you have encountered them. The photos we see about war are powerful, but do we see what is left in the aftermath? Photography is an influential tool, bringing to the world the destruction and the pain of people are subjected to - but what fraction of the devastation do we see? We see what we see and we have the good nature to forget what we saw, as long as we haven’t been subjected to the pain, but what we should not forget not to allow war and violence to happen again in the name of anything. Iraqi people will probably have to live through several generations before they will be able to live normal lives, especially with the non-stop violence. War and pain is in every picture you see and there is a story in every eye, as shown by a child’s drawing below.

Where is the heaven?

Around you, the park with gold and red leaves.  Autumn, the most beautiful season of the year. Why do people suffocate themselves in the Gym? The best exercise is free. The   wonder for your six senses, the colours of yellow and gold so powerful and the crunch of the leaves under your feet like soft music.
